How to Succeed at anything!

How to succeed at anything!

You know those nights when you go to bed full of good intentions. Tomorrow you will eat better, be motivated, go to the gym etc etc. you're gonna start that book.
the next day you wake up and somehow it never gets done.
It's funny because we expect to wake up and be completely different to who we are today. If we were already that person we would have done what we wanted to do tomorrow today!!! The way to succeed is not to continually wish to wake up more motivated tomorrow!! You're not lazy or the worlds worst procrastinator. All you probably need to do is understand more about goal setting, healthy habits and rituals.
The answer lies in the NOW moment and the trick is to set yourself up to win!!
When I'm helping people achieve goals, the one thing those people who aren't achieving, have in common, is that they are setting the bar way to high. Nobody likes to fail and as soon as we do, we tend to give up temporarily (until the next day or week). You can repeat this pattern for years, blaming procrastination, no motivation and great excuses - beating yourself up and no doubt shaming and guilting yourself in the process. This serves only to reaffirm your worst fears and feed the lack of change.
If we set the bar too high then we are less likely to take ANY action because it feels intimidating! ALL action is good, ANY action is good, no matter how small!!
To help people, I always find out how fair their goal setting is.
For example, a client came to me recently wanting to change her lifestyle. She felt that she drank too much, she ate too much and she never exercised. She would say to herself every evening that tomorrow will be different and then she would wake up and do exactly the same thing again the next day.
She would emotionally beat herself up and then repeat the cycle.
When I asked her to name one positive and easy change that she could make, she responded with 'I'm going to see a nutritionalist and I could get a personal trainer, or join the gym'. These sound like reasonable changes but each one of these options has potential for instant failure, why you ask? Because they are all WAAAY too big! Even small is too big!!
You see, if you have something in your life that you always say you will do, but that never gets done, I don't doubt that you couldn't tell me RIGHT now, HOW you could succeed.  Most people know what to do, but the reason you can't often do it, is because the end point is too much of a leap from where you are now. To add any new practice, habit or ritual into your life, start small!! Small is a prelude to big and it's the most essential and overlooked formula for success in changing anything!!
If you get used to setting really easy targets, you will naturally start to get used to succeeding. Once that's in place, and you feel how good it feels to succeed, you can't help but set yourself more goals and very quickly achieve ANYTHING!!
Sure, go to the nutritionalist, get some motivation and advise from them. Join the gym and get a personal trainer. However, whilst you are waiting for your nutritional appointment, why not just add two or three healthy foods into your existing diet today and take one unhealthy thing out. You can succeed today, right now! Doesn't that feel better than the completely unrealistic, imaginary day when you are nothing but healthy, never eating anything bad ever again? If everything else except perfection is failure to you, then it's easy to understand why that method causes you to lose motivation and never succeed. Take your bar down! Set a more reasonable goal!
Don't wait for the gym membership! Don't wait until you have bought new trainers and all the gear, don't wait until after work when you are too tired and can't be bothered, or your 'busy period' at work is over! You are working against yourself when you do this!! Stop expecting yourself to feel the motivation at 5pm that you had at 9am that morning!! Whenever you feel the motivation is when you take the action! Do 5 mins exercise at the side of your bed every morning when you wake up! 5 mins of running in the spot, squats, lunges, or stick some music on and get a little funky with your bad self! If you struggle to do that then you can start to understand how you would fail at the more intimidating goals!!
Every time you hear yourself give an excuse, and I mean EVERY time, tell yourself firmly that that's exactly what that is, an excuse. Set a long term goal, and then back it up with just ONE step that takes you in the right direction!!! Not a giant leap, a teeny tiny step in the right direction! Once your up and moving, that five minutes becomes 10, which becomes 15 and when you add that up every day, that often equates to more than what you would have done 'intending' to go to the gym!!
I've used gym as an example but you can apply this formula to everything, and imagine how your life could be if you did apply it to everything today?
Just a little more veg and fruit than you normally have and just a little less of the naughty stuff. A glass of water between every glass of wine/alcohol. You don't have to start that book, but you could just get used to writing by starting a journal or making notes in your phone when you feel inspired.
Don't clean the whole house, just clean the sink, or clean for 10 mins.

Your perspective is also important when breaking bad habits and creating healthy new ones.
Don't focus on the lack of chocolate biscuits and how lovely they would taste if you just maybe had one. This suggests that you are stopping yourself from having something that you really want, and that sucks! Decide today what you want your body to look like, and how healthy, how fit and how toned, you would like to be. Decide how healthy you would like your heart muscle to be and how long you would like to be healthy for. Once you know, then all you need to do before everything you eat or do, is ask yourself 'is this choice in line with the healthy person I am choosing to be?'.
This one perspective adjustment changes your life!!
Make a plan!!! Don't make a plan to make a plan, just quickly right now, think of 3 things that you would like to be different in your life.
Take just one action step today in those three areas. Google a hobby, write one sentence or a rough outline of a CV. Make everything simple and do each action step for between 1-5 mins.
Today is the only day you have! No more excuses, set yourself up to SUCCEED!!!

It's not what you know, It's what you do with that knowing!

Ever been thinking about a friend and then they call you? Ever felt like something was wrong just before something happened? Ever knew that someone was about to say something, just before they did?
Ever been in a room with me and wondered how the heck I know all those things I know about you, when we have only just met?

Hunches, inspired action, gut feeling, gut reaction and instinct are all forms of Intuition. Intuition is just another sense that can be taught, learnt, strengthened and mastered!!

Intuition is no longer classed as a pseudoscience thanks to institutes around the world that have tested and proved it's existence.

Your five senses are basically
vibration (wavelengths) that are interpreted into sight, hearing, touching, smelling and tasting by your brain.
There is only really one sense, that's feeling. All the other senses are different forms of the same sense.
Only information which has expressed itself at or slower than the speed of light, is received by our physical senses, in a three dimensional reality.
Vibrations that are beyond the range of the five senses ability to detect can be perceived directly by our consciousness. (Sixth & seventh sense)
Intuition is just another sense. It's a sense of knowing. An in-built Sat Nav/google that can take you anywhere you want to go and give you any information that you need.

I'm not suggesting that you ONLY trust your intuition. If you mix together facts, logic and intuition, you will make a far better choice because more information is available to you.

Did you also know that your intuition perceives ahead? Yes, that's right, I said AHEAD!!
Your intuition also never alerts you unless there is a viable action step you can take. Takes the worry and hard work out of making decisions doesn't it?
Don't take my word for it though, why don't you try it out?
This simple exercise can be done today no matter what you are up to!!

(The full one day FREE workshop on harnessing your intuition 2015 will be announced in January. This workshop will be a prerequisite for the Healing course and I am accepting names to be put on the notification list now.)

Exercise:
To Harness your intuition you must first set a goal. Your intuition naturally runs from your train of thought, so it's important to set an intention so we can look out for our answers!!
Ask a set question to set the intention. Here are some examples.

What are some of the ways I could attract money easily and quickly into my life?

What can I do to live a more fulfilled life?

What decision should I make in regards to __________________

-Now all you have to do is say the question a few times in your head.
-Go on with your day and within everything that happens, everything that you see, every word that you hear or read, look for ways to relate it to your question.
Your intuition only makes you aware of what ACTION is available. You can't go wrong because it only sees the answer.
If you have two conflicting answers, then one is the answer that you KNOW is right, and the other is the thing you feel you have to/should do/will hurt less/is easier etc.
separate yourself from obligation and limited thinking. Just ask what feels right!!!

Other intuition building exercises give you more awareness of self and another people on a deeper level, and can be used for......

-Knowing what other people are thinking and feeling. (so can better understand them and give them what they need)
-Increase awareness of why you have pain in a set area of your body. (to relieve pain.)
-Understanding of what emotions and beliefs you and others hold within the physical body. (what blocks or conditions may be holding you back from the life/career/relationships you want.

Let me know what happens!!!!!!!

Changing the world.....a light topic to start the day! ;)

Currently most of us don't feel that we have a lot of say or choice in how our world is run. We are witness every day to undelivered promises or actions that are taken by our government on our behalf. We feel helpless and we often disassociate with any responsibility we have and sit back and blame 'them' for everything that is wrong with this world.

Large corporations and government got in bed together. No politician that would fairly represent the aspirations of ordinary people will currently be allowed to get to power.
Politicians were not born evil, greedy or with a disregard for everyone else's needs. They merely don't have a lot of say themselves right now. If they move left, they might upset a large corporation, if they move right they might upset a country that they promised to support. Is it just a few select people in the government that consumed from these companies? No, we all did! We wanted more, we we created the false need for more, we imported more, we desired the status that comes with more, we became tied to more.
They are between a rock and a hard place and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US put them there!

How do we create change?
We cannot answer our problems from a state of blame. Firstly we must move to a state of complete alignment. A pure perspective.

Meditation is one way to do this.
When you begin to access the stillness of a quite mind, you realise that you are not your mind after all. You are not your individual thoughts or your individual feelings. You are more than your fear and worries, you are part of a greater interconnected whole. What you do to yourself, you do to others. What you do to others, you do to yourself.
You are a dormant cell in the living organism that is earth, following the herd unquestioningly, until.........you allow full awareness and consciousness.
You then activate and become the cell that individually takes the responsibility for the only thing that you can...yourself.  From this understanding comes great change, thus inspiring other cells to change earths current story.
When you look around you from the purest perspective without constraints and engrained disempowerment and fear, you can now ask some important questions.... Do I like the world I see around me? What will our future look like if we continue on the path we are on?

This is what happens when you recognise that you're a unique individual within a Collective whole and why it's so important to get yourself to that state...

You realise that you're just one person and therefore only responsible for your OWN actions and not your kids, siblings, parents, colleagues and friends actions/reactions/choices and happiness. (Less people to worry about! Sounds blissful does it not?)
You stop blaming others for how YOU feel and release them from having to act or be a certain way before you can be happy. (relationships will become stronger and deeper if we accept people as they are and we in turn feel accepted for who we are)
You go from the 'us' and 'them' mentality, to embracing your responsibility as an individual within a collective. (Instead of blaming the government you accept what you as an individual have done to create the situation we are in now, and more importantly, what you can do NOW)

When you look at your idea of an ideal world, does it look like the one we have now? We are destroying the world around us, the rainforest, the oceans, the accelerated use of non biodegradable waste.
We are the consumers that fuel corporate greed!
We individually can make HUGE changes!!!

Stuff is stuff and we need to create a healthy relationship with it.
Disassociate with how you look/dress to how you feel inside.
Disassociate with how much you have, being a reflection of who you are.
Be grateful for and fully enjoy what you already do have! Allow it to be enough.
Don't allow these changes to create any superiority! Everyone is only responsible for their own journey and should go on it at their own pace!!
Simply remove the judgment from how other people look, dress and how much they have from who they are as a person.

                                    RESPONSIBILITY
                                    REUSE
                                    RECYCLE
                                    REDUCE

"If you think you're too small to make a difference, you haven't spent a night with a mosquito!"      - African proverb

Down the rabbit hole!

I had a choice recently to let an upsetting situation overcome me or (as usual) stay positive and move forward. I chose to consciously let it overcome me!! Why you might ask? To know where it leads of course!

I allowed my deepest fears and hurts a safe place to sing! My reasoning: It's hard to fully accept and understand myself if I only get to know some of me!!
As a strong person, I hadn't often allowed myself to be vulnerable. Or the truth translation: as a guarded person, I hadn't often tolerated what I saw as self weakness.
I chose consciously to experience this situation with full awareness of ALL my feelings without judgment. ...ok, so there was some judgement...but hey I'm human, what you gonna do!!

I watched all my thoughts as they passed by (or came knocking repeatedly at the door). I noticed that if any perceivably irrational, pathetic, derogatory or any other negative thoughts came through my head - My instinct was to ignore them - to reason with myself and not stay wrapped up in something for too long.
Before In similar situations I would be aware of negative thoughts, but i would soon reason with them and move on. I thought this was a wonderful way of dealing with things! People even commended me on my strength and resolve to stand by my decisions and not falter.
I knew that faltering and a healthy amount of questioning yourself is good for you. What I didn't know about questioning yourself, is that you should also stick around to hear your own answer. Not just hear it, but accept it.
At first I felt like the negativity, doubt and fear would swallow me up. I had
often ignored background fears or what I felt was pathetic or irrational thoughts and feelings.
Such is the mind - Ego and personality don't like accepting negative aspects of self. We can go to many a length to project just the 'good' parts of ourself (the first few months of dating is a good example of this!)

All thoughts are created equal.
Whilst I was experiencing this roller coaster, I got to thinking about thoughts.
All thoughts (wether we have labeled them good or bad) are essentially all equal. They all create a feeling and emotion in the body, which determines our vibration, which creates our reality.
Thoughts, feelings and emotions should flow from us, to us and through us. What we resist persists. So by this account, not accepting ANY thought will just cause it to go on repeat! If we still refuse to accept this thought it gathers more momentum and eventually becomes a bigger, badder version of itself! Manifesting itself in your energetic and therefore physical reality until it's annoying or unavoidable enough that you have to do something about it!

Ever had something big happen, only to realised in hindsight you could have dealt with it waaaaay before you did?
Ever looked back at a relationship, friendship, business partnership and realise that all the warning signs were there from the beginning, but you ignored them until it got reeeeally bad?
Life will deliver to you the lessons you need to increase your consciousness. Life delivers these lessons gently at first. If you choose not to learn, life will repeat like an alarm clock until it's blaring on full force!
Every time without fail, life gives you signs way before boiling point in an attempt to self correct and heal. It's entirely up to you when you want to pull your finger out of the water.
In this case I had chosen to burn and blister all because I wouldn't accept all parts or me!

I was determined to allow each irrational thought to run through me as easily as I would accept a truth. From this place of complete acceptance and allowance, came complete awareness!!!!!
Allowing the thought to run its course had seen it dissipate before my very eyes. A deep understanding of it created by completely embracing it, rather than rejecting it.
It was in the awareness of the thought, that I could learn where it originated from and how long I had carried it through different situations in my life. You can't change the ending if you don't know the beginning!!!!

All your thoughts are valid.
If a situation keeps reoccurring in your life or a thought pattern/behaviour keeps sneaking up repeatedly........then maybe it's time to get to know the other you.............you know........the person you refuse to be!
Surrender to what you resist and watch it melt away!!!

It's in trusting the universe to catch you when you're falling that you are caught.
It's about facing your biggest fear, knowing that it might swallow you up, but doing it anyway!
It's in embracing pain only to be relieved of it.
It's in allowing any outcome, that offers us the choice.
It's beautiful, it's painful, it's sadistically ironic.......it's life ;)

Namaste
